Introduction

An established Australian law firm with a growing national presence. A name that reflects its commitment to outcomes. And a complete brand and digital transformation designed to bring the two together.

Working in collaboration with Leap Studios, Spacey Studios led the brand strategy, visual identity and website design and development for Eventus Lawyers, formerly SLF Lawyers.

The project brought together extensive brand research, a distinctive visual identity, comprehensive brand standards and a bespoke Webflow website, replacing a limited four-page digital presence with an interconnected platform of more than 60 pages.

The result is a contemporary brand built around clarity, confidence and commercial understanding, supported by a digital experience that makes complex legal expertise easier to discover.

‍

The Challenge

Evolving an established reputation without losing what made it valuable

SLF Lawyers had built a strong reputation through its legal expertise, trusted client relationships and growing presence across Australia. But as the firm evolved, its existing identity no longer fully reflected the breadth of its capabilities, progressive culture or ambitions for the future.

The transition to Eventus Lawyers presented an opportunity to address that disconnect.

Unlike developing an identity for a new business, this project required careful consideration of the reputation and recognition already established under the SLF Lawyers name. The firm needed to communicate meaningful change while reassuring existing clients and referrers that the people, expertise and relationships they trusted remained the same.

The challenge was to create an identity that felt contemporary without being trend-driven, premium without being inaccessible, and confident without becoming overly corporate.

The legal sector presented another consideration. With many established firms relying on familiar visual conventions and similar messages around trust, expertise and professionalism, Eventus Lawyers needed a more distinctive presence without compromising its credibility.

Beyond the brand itself, the firm's digital presence required significant development. Its temporary four-page website offered limited opportunities to explore the full breadth of its services, discover relevant lawyers or understand the industries it supported.

The opportunity was therefore much broader than a rebrand. It was to establish a cohesive strategic, visual and digital foundation that could support the organisation's next chapter.

‍

The Strategy

Finding clarity through complexity

Our work began with an extensive discovery and strategy process, examining the existing SLF Lawyers brand, its competitive environment, stakeholder perspectives and the qualities that distinguished the firm.

Through this process, we identified a need to bring several characteristics into balance: established expertise and progressive thinking, commercial confidence and approachability, and premium positioning without unnecessary formality.

The name Eventus, associated with outcomes and results, provided a meaningful foundation for the brand narrative.

Rather than positioning the firm solely around its technical legal capabilities, the strategy focused on the value of bringing expertise, perspective and commercial understanding together to help clients navigate complex matters and move towards resolution.

This led to a central strategic idea: clarity through complexity.

Legal challenges rarely involve a single consideration or straightforward path. They often require different perspectives, disciplines and competing priorities to be brought into alignment.

The brand needed to reflect Eventus Lawyers' ability to navigate that complexity with confidence and provide clients with a clearer way forward.

These strategic foundations informed the visual identity, brand communications and website, ensuring the new brand was more than a change of name or appearance.

‍

The Identity

Different perspectives. One point of resolution.

At the centre of the Eventus Lawyers visual identity is the idea of convergence.

We explored how multiple pathways, perspectives and areas of expertise could be represented through a single, recognisable geometric form.

The resulting symbol is built around a central point, representing an outcome, result or moment of resolution. Eight directional forms extend from this centre, suggesting movement, strategic thinking and the different pathways involved in navigating complex legal challenges.

The eight forms also establish a connection to Eventus Lawyers' eight practice groups, reinforcing the firm's multidisciplinary expertise.

The symbol was deliberately designed to allow for multiple interpretations. It can be understood as an intersection, a point of alignment, a target or a collection of perspectives converging around a shared objective.

This conceptual flexibility gives the identity depth without relying on visual complexity.

It also provides a distinctive alternative to the conventional symbols often associated with the legal profession, such as scales, pillars and gavels.

Paired with a refined wordmark, the identity balances contemporary expression with the structure and authority expected of an established legal firm.

The convergence concept extends beyond the primary logo, providing a recognisable visual foundation that can be applied across digital interfaces, corporate stationery and supporting brand communications.

‍

The Visual Language

Modern authority, expressed with restraint

The broader visual identity was developed to balance distinction, professionalism and practical flexibility.

Colour played an important role in achieving this.

Following an extensive exploration of different directions, we combined the strongest characteristics of two preferred approaches: a distinctive teal-led palette and a more restrained graphite-led palette.

Deep teal became a defining brand colour, establishing a recognisable and contemporary presence within a sector often dominated by conservative corporate palettes.

Graphite provides structure, depth and authority, grounding the identity and reinforcing its premium positioning.

A supporting palette of lighter, cooler tones and warmer stone-based neutrals introduces flexibility across different applications, allowing the brand to move between expressive communications and information-heavy environments without losing consistency.

Typography follows the same principles.

Instrument Sans was selected as the primary brand typeface for its contemporary character, clarity and versatility.

Rather than introducing multiple competing typefaces, the system establishes hierarchy through considered variations in scale, weight, spacing and layout.

The result is a visual language built around strong geometry, confident typography, purposeful colour and generous space.

Distinctive without being decorative. Contemporary without compromising credibility.

Brand Standards & Applications

A sophisticated identity, made practical for everyday use

A successful brand identity needs to work beyond presentations and polished mock-ups.

For Eventus Lawyers, that meant considering how the new identity would be implemented across a professional organisation where a significant proportion of everyday communication takes place through formal documentation, correspondence and operational systems.

We developed a comprehensive Brand Standards document that brought together the firm's strategic foundations, brand personality, communication principles and visual identity into a single reference resource.

The challenge was to make the guidelines detailed enough to establish a consistent brand system, while remaining accessible to lawyers, administrative staff and other professionals without specialist design knowledge.

Rather than relying on technical terminology or abstract creative principles, the guidelines use clear explanations, practical instructions and visual examples to demonstrate how the identity should be applied.

The system was then extended across corporate business cards, letterheads, Microsoft Word document templates, email marketing templates, branded notepads and supporting collateral.

Particular attention was given to the practical requirements of legal documentation.

For example, the Microsoft Word letterhead templates needed to preserve the visual character of the new identity while remaining easy for staff to edit, share and use within existing workflows.

We developed a considered typographic approach that retained the brand typeface within designed letterhead elements while using a widely available system font for editable document content.

These decisions may be less visible than the primary identity, but they were essential to ensuring the brand could function consistently in practice.

The objective was not simply to create a distinctive brand, but to make that brand straightforward for the organisation to understand, adopt and maintain.

The Website

Making complex legal expertise easier to discover

The new Eventus Lawyers website was a major component of the transformation.

The firm's previous digital presence consisted of a temporary four-page website, providing limited opportunities for visitors to explore its services, understand its broader capabilities or connect with relevant legal professionals.

We designed and developed a comprehensive new website containing more than 60 pages, establishing a central digital platform for the firm's practice areas, people, industry sectors, locations and insights.

The priority was user experience.

Legal matters can be complex, sensitive and unfamiliar. Visitors may arrive with different levels of understanding, varying degrees of digital confidence and a wide range of personal or commercial circumstances.

The website therefore needed to make it straightforward to understand who Eventus Lawyers is, identify relevant expertise and take the next step with confidence.

Rather than approaching the website as a collection of independent pages, we developed an interconnected information architecture built around the relationships between services, lawyers, sectors and supporting content.

Practice areas became a primary navigation pathway, supported by relevant lawyer profiles and related insights.

Visitors exploring a particular legal service can discover the professionals associated with that area, while individual lawyer profiles provide pathways back to their relevant expertise.

Industry content and articles create additional entry points, allowing users to explore the firm's capabilities from different perspectives.

This approach accommodates the different journeys visitors may take through the website without forcing them into a single predetermined path.

The result is a content-rich digital experience designed to feel straightforward, intuitive and accessible.

‍

UI/UX Design

A digital experience built around confidence and clarity

The website's visual design translates the Eventus Lawyers identity into a refined digital environment.

Strong typography, generous spacing and structured layouts create a clear hierarchy, allowing the firm's expertise and content to remain the focus.

The teal and graphite palette is applied with restraint.

Darker, more expressive sections introduce moments of brand impact, while lighter backgrounds provide clarity and breathing room across longer practice area pages, lawyer profiles and articles.

Accessibility and general usability were important considerations throughout the design process.

We considered users across different age groups, levels of digital literacy and accessibility requirements, using WCAG principles to inform decisions around contrast, typography, navigation, spacing and interface behaviour.

Rather than introducing unconventional navigation patterns or elaborate interactions, we prioritised familiar behaviours that help visitors move through the website confidently.

Animations and transitions were implemented selectively, providing subtle visual feedback and refinement without distracting from the content.

The website also incorporates a flexible system of reusable layouts and components, ensuring consistency across a substantial volume of content while accommodating the different requirements of each section.

The underlying structure is sophisticated, but that complexity is intentionally kept out of the user's way.

‍

Webflow Development

A connected CMS designed for long-term growth

The Eventus Lawyers website was designed, developed and hosted using Webflow.

With more than 60 pages and several interconnected content types, a central technical objective was to establish a flexible platform that could support ongoing updates without introducing unnecessary administrative complexity.

We developed a structured CMS architecture to manage lawyer profiles, practice areas, industry sectors, articles and other dynamic content.

Relationships between these collections allow relevant information to be displayed throughout the website without requiring each connection to be maintained independently.

For example, updating a lawyer's profile or practice area associations can inform how that professional appears across related sections of the website.

This approach reduces duplication, supports content consistency and creates a more manageable foundation as the firm's website continues to evolve.

While Webflow provided the core platform, we extended its native capabilities through targeted custom development.

This included a bespoke people filtering system, making it easier for visitors to explore the firm's team and identify relevant professionals.

We also developed downloadable contact cards for individual lawyer profiles, allowing visitors to save contact information directly from the website.

Additional custom CSS and JavaScript were implemented where required to refine interactions, responsive behaviours and other interface details.

Throughout development, the objective was to balance bespoke functionality with long-term maintainability, using native platform capabilities wherever practical and avoiding unnecessary reliance on external systems.

‍

SEO & Domain Migration

Establishing continuity through change

The transition from SLF Lawyers to Eventus Lawyers involved more than launching a new website.

It also required moving the firm's digital presence to a new domain while providing a clear transition for existing clients, referrers and other visitors familiar with the previous identity.

Working alongside the firm's IT provider, we implemented a custom permanent redirect solution using AWS CloudFront.

Requests to the previous SLF Lawyers domain were redirected to a dedicated transition landing page on the new Eventus Lawyers website.

Rather than directing visitors to a generic homepage, this page explained the change of name and reassured users that the firm's people, expertise and services continued under the new identity.

We also completed the Google Search Console Change of Address process and established the new website's technical SEO foundations.

This included search-friendly page structures, metadata, internal linking, XML sitemap submission and comprehensive JSON-LD structured data to provide search engines with additional context about the firm and its content.

Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Search Console were configured to support ongoing performance monitoring and search management.

The website also incorporated an llms.txt implementation as an exploratory consideration for emerging AI-oriented content discovery.

Together, these measures established the technical foundations for the new digital presence while supporting a considered transition between the firm's previous and new identities.

‍

A Collaborative Approach

Bringing together strategy, creativity and implementation

The Eventus Lawyers transformation was delivered through a close collaboration between Spacey Studios and Leap Studios, working alongside the firm's senior management team.

Leap Studios was the lead agency for the engagement, bringing the project together and engaging Spacey Studios as its creative and digital partner to lead the brand strategy, visual identity and website design and development.

From the outset, Leap played an integral role in shaping and managing the project, overseeing the client relationship, establishing the overall delivery framework and coordinating the many moving parts involved in a substantial organisational rebrand.

As the primary client-facing partner, Leap led project management and stakeholder coordination, facilitating presentations, gathering feedback, managing approvals and maintaining communication between the various teams involved.

A particularly significant part of Leap's contribution was managing the project's extensive content and photography requirements.

With a website spanning more than 60 pages and covering numerous practice areas, industry sectors, lawyers and locations, gathering, organising and preparing the necessary content was a considerable undertaking in its own right. This included coordinating the photography of more than 50 staff members, managing the editing and preparation of their professional headshots, and ensuring the imagery was ready for consistent use across the website.

Beyond the photography, Leap was responsible for developing the website copy, sourcing and selecting supporting imagery, and coordinating the substantial volume of information required from stakeholders across the organisation. Bringing all of this together into a structured, implementation-ready format was a significant logistical undertaking and an essential part of delivering the completed website.

Throughout the creative process, Leap provided valuable input and feedback during identity development, helping coordinate the presentation and refinement of concepts with Eventus Lawyers.

Following the development of the identity and supporting assets, Leap also coordinated the production, distribution and broader rollout of the new brand collateral, ensuring the transition could be implemented across the organisation.

Spacey Studios led the strategic, creative and technical development of the brand and website, including brand research and positioning, creative direction, identity development, brand standards, collateral design, website strategy, UI/UX design, Webflow development, CMS architecture, SEO and technical implementation.

The Eventus Lawyers senior management team contributed throughout the discovery and development process, providing insight into the firm's positioning, culture and operational requirements while reviewing and approving key milestones.

The collaboration brought together complementary areas of expertise, with Spacey Studios focused on the strategic, creative and technical execution, and Leap Studios providing the client leadership, content development, project coordination and rollout management required to bring the broader transformation together.

It was a genuinely collaborative engagement, with each team playing an important role in delivering a cohesive brand and digital experience for Eventus Lawyers.

‍

The Outcome

A stronger foundation for the next chapter

The Eventus Lawyers project established a comprehensive new brand and digital foundation designed to reflect the organisation's capabilities, culture and ambitions.

What began as a transition from SLF Lawyers became an opportunity to bring the firm's external identity into closer alignment with the business it had become.

The new identity provides a distinctive, contemporary and consistent visual language, supported by comprehensive brand standards and practical applications that allow it to function across the organisation.

The website represents an equally significant transformation.

Replacing a limited four-page presence with a comprehensive platform of more than 60 pages, the new digital experience provides clearer pathways to the firm's expertise, people and services.

Its interconnected CMS architecture also establishes a more flexible and maintainable foundation for ongoing content management and future growth.

The rebrand was publicly introduced in October 2026, with Eventus Lawyers discussing the transition in Australian legal industry publication Lawyers Weekly.

The firm's public commentary reinforced the central thinking behind the project: the need for an identity that better represented its national growth and outcome-focused approach, while preserving the people, relationships and expertise established under SLF Lawyers.

Although the website has only recently launched and longer-term performance data is not yet available, the immediate transformation is substantial.

Eventus Lawyers now has a cohesive brand and digital ecosystem that brings together strategic positioning, distinctive design, accessible user experiences and practical implementation.

A new identity for an established firm, built to support the next stage of its evolution.

Reflection

Bringing strategy, identity and digital experience together

The Eventus Lawyers project was a particularly rewarding engagement for us, both because of its scale and the opportunity to develop an entirely new brand and digital presence for an established Australian law firm.

Unlike creating an identity for a new business, this project came with an existing reputation, longstanding client relationships and a significant amount of recognition attached to the SLF Lawyers name. Finding the right balance between respecting that history and establishing a more contemporary, distinctive direction was an important part of the challenge.

We’re particularly proud of the strategic thinking behind the final identity.

The convergence concept provided a meaningful connection between the Eventus name, the firm’s multidisciplinary expertise and its outcome-focused approach to legal services. Rather than relying on familiar legal symbolism, we were able to develop a distinctive geometric mark with a clear underlying idea that could extend naturally into the broader visual identity.

The brand development process was also a good example of the value of establishing a clear strategic direction before moving into creative execution. With the positioning and creative principles agreed early, the identity development progressed relatively efficiently, allowing us to focus on refining the strongest ideas rather than continually revisiting the overall direction.

Another satisfying aspect was translating the identity into a practical system that could be used across a substantial organisation.

The comprehensive Brand Standards document, corporate stationery and document templates required us to think beyond how the brand looked in a presentation and consider how it would function in everyday professional communications.

The website presented an entirely different set of challenges.

Moving from a temporary four-page presence to a comprehensive platform of more than 60 pages required careful planning across information architecture, user experience, CMS relationships and development.

We’re particularly pleased with how the website brings together a large amount of interconnected content while maintaining a clear, approachable and intuitive experience.

The custom Webflow implementation also allowed us to deliver a sophisticated digital platform without introducing unnecessary complexity into the underlying technology.

Working alongside Leap Studios was another important part of the experience. Their management of the client relationship, extensive content requirements and broader brand rollout allowed us to focus on the strategic, creative and technical aspects of the project, while maintaining a collaborative approach throughout.

For us, Eventus Lawyers is a strong example of what can be achieved when brand strategy, visual identity and digital experience are developed as connected parts of the same process.

It’s a project we’re particularly proud of, not simply because of the final identity or website, but because of the depth of thinking, collaboration and practical execution required to bring the entire transformation together.
