Spacey Studios is a dynamic and fast-growing design agency based in Cremorne, the creative hub of Melbourne. Since our establishment in early 2019, Spacey Studios has been dedicated to delivering top-quality creative solutions, specialising in Graphic Design, UI & UX Design, Website Development, Brand Development, and Print & Production Solutions. With a diverse client base in industries such as retail, education, and professional services, we collaborate on a range of exciting projects that provide creative freedom across various fields of business.

We operate in an ever-changing industry, so as a result, we need some additional hands on deck that we can call on from time to time when things get busy. We are looking for freelance contractors to add to our roster that are readily available to work with Spacey Studios on graphic design and brand development projects, when needed.

This is an adhoc freelance opportunity to Australian residents with a valid Australian Business Number (ABN). We are not looking to partner with other agencies or large design teams at this time.

Industry experience and a proven portfolio is essential, as we are not in the position to train freelancers prior to them commencing work with us.

‍Pay rate and a contractual agreement is to be determined based on skills and experience. Please notify us on your typical rate during the application process so we know your usual fees during the negotiation process.

Role Description

As a Freelance Graphic Designer, you will play a vital role in contributing to both current and prospective projects when we are in our busiest periods. Your creativity and technical skills will be put to use across various disciplines, including digital and print formats. From brochures, flyers and brand development, through to website & social media graphics, presentation materials, and advertising assets, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of creative mediums with our team.

Collaboration is at the heart of our agency, and you will work closely with the Director, Designers, Developers, and Suppliers to bring projects to completion. From time to time, you may be required to engage directly with clients, actively participating in the briefing, concept design, and consultation phases. Your ability to distil feedback and produce concise brand style guidelines and collateral tailored to the client’s needs will be crucial. Additionally, you may be required to contribute to our in-house brand style guides, social media presence, and overall digital footprint.

Attention to detail is vital in maintaining the high standards we set for our work. Therefore, you will be expected to follow our project management processes diligently, utilising appropriate software for tracking, monitoring, and communicating all work. Version control across files and drafts will be essential to maintain organisation across all projects.

This will be a remote opportunity and you will need to be equiped to work from home or your own workspace. If you live in Melbourne, you may have the opportunity to work with us in-person at our office in Cremorne, Victoria from time-to-time.

Main Duties / Responsibilities

• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
• Understanding of Adobe Premiere Pro for digital assets and GIFs (preferred but not essential)
• Experience with Figma and Webflow digital software.
• Proficient in both print and digital design.
• Excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with the team and clients. You should be able to convey ideas, measure your performance, provide rationales, and distil feedback.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, either in-office or remotely, while adhering to Spacey Studios’ work ethics and deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to think creatively and logically.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• A diverse portfolio of work that you can show to us during the application process.

Requirements

• You must have an active Australian Business Number (ABN).
• You must be an individual freelancer, not a design agency or team of creatives.
• You must have a portfolio with proven experience in the creative industry.
• You will need to provide us with tax invoices for work carried out.
• As a freelancer, you will need your own device and design software. We can negotiate access to certain software, if required.
